Pete’s Beer Blog

Well, here it goes; my first beer blog. I’m going to keep it simple and write about my favorite summer beers. All those clean crisp beers that keep me going under the bright hot sun.

My favorite style to drink in the summer, is  German pilsner. I love the crisp aromatic hops that aren’t too bitter, but have just enough zing to keep you wanting more. “Konig Pilsner” is my favorite, but we also have a few excellent ones from Colorado; such as Polestar from Left Hand, and Yellow Kite form Bristol. Speaking of German beers, let’s go next door for weissbiers or wheats. Summer always reminds me of fresh flowers, oranges and citrus, and a good Belgian wit tends to have a touch of orange and coriander to go with it. Check out Victory’s Whirlwind, Troublette, or Hitachino’s White.

Hop heads don’t worry; you can get your fresh hops too. We have a fresh batch of Pliny the Elder and Sierra Nevada’s Southern hemisphere made with fresh harvested New Zealand hops. Big hopped up double IPA’s always seem to give me the energy I need to get outside and play.

For all of us that wish we could be on the beach this time of year, we can get a bit of comfort drinking cheap Mexican beers. Those good ‘ol cheap session standbys that everyone loves.

I could go on and on forever writing about my favorite summer beers, but I better stop for now. There are tons of great beers out there for every occasion. So if you have any other questions or just want to rant about beer, come on down and visit.
